I also have to thank everybody who came for our 1 year anniversary celebration this past Sunday, waited in line for a free coffee, and pushed us to see how much volume we could sustain.

We’ve decided that ALL day long this Sunday August 29th, we would like to give back and say thanks for your support by offering free drinks to anybody willing to wait in line for one.

The only stipulations are

1. All drinks unfortunately MUST be to go.

2. Only 1 drink per person in line. If your buddy wants one, they’re gonna have to come in and get it themselves. Orders of multiple drinks will be at full price.

3. No limit to how many times you can come and get a drink, but you will have to wait in line each time.

4. Only  hot espresso based drinks will be served on Sunday, so our French Press coffee, Siphon coffee, and any other non espresso drinks will not be available for that day, including Iced drinks.

So tell all your friends, make a day of it, and come line up like these guys

It has been my goal since the start of my days as a Barista to one day win the World Barista Championship, and bring the title home to Toronto.

Been close a couple times, but not so lucky this year. A fatal flub on my signature drink Shut me down this time.

A trumped up play on a Reese’ peanut butter cup, I served a mixture of cream, egg, and hazelnut butter with my espresso in the hopes of cooling the coffee down by mixing, and finally serving them to the judges in a small chocolate cup they would devour much like a Reese cup.

Why would chocolate melt when hot coffee is poured into it, dummy?

Only a real dummy would think dummy isn’t a term of endearment.

Anyhoo, Congrats to Momiji of Darkhorse. She done real good, and made us all proud. I know she’s gonna bring it at the National Championships in September, so go see her if you missed her win at St. Lawrence Market on the July 27th.

I’ll take that as a compliment, considering its our belief at the shop that there are 2 things you can measure the skill of a barista by, and one of those is the Cappuccino.

Its the most difficult drink to make perfectly, and falls into the category of “Meh!” if just one element is missing.
