This is where it all started. Opened 2009, this store went from a decrepit junk shop on a vacant strip, to a community hub in no time. It's a small place with big charm, few seats, and a regular cast of characters from the neighbourhood, nearby UofT, cyclists, and coffee lovers who make this their destination.
This is home base, and the DNA of Sam James Coffee Bar.
Monday - Friday | 7am - 6pm
Saturday | 8am - 5pm
Sunday | 9am - 5pm
At Christie Pits TTC station.
The second location, AKA the Coffee Pocket takes what was once the vault of a bank and locks coffee into Toronto's Korean neighbourhood.
The Pocket, opened 2010, at less than half the size of the original shop, swings way above its weight class.
No seating, a thin bar to slam an espresso or dress up your coffee to go, and a bare essentials approach. This is a no fuss, no bullshit, everything you need, nothing you don't kinda place.
Monday - Friday | 7am - 7pm
Saturday / Sunday | 9am - 5pm
Underground at St. Andrew TTC station. The third, and highest impact location yet.
Opened 2012, in the underground pathway connecting the towers of the Financial District, serving the hundreds of thousands of people who occupy it.
This shop can gather a bit of a crowd at rush hour, often spilling out into the hallway. Muscle up to the bar and you'll be in good hands from there.
With 2 espresso machines on full blast all day, you can hear this place roaring from the building next door.
