The Sidama region is known for producing the most coffee at the highest grades in Ethiopia.
This region spreads across fertile highlands, where half of the land is cultivated. The surrounding rivers and lakes along with the very high elevation results in cool weather and fertile soil.
These factors, in combination with over 100 inches of rainfall per year, cause the coffee to ripen slower than in any other region in Ethiopia.
Gatta Farm has been named after a waterfall that crosses the farm. It's surrounded by waterfalls, rivers, and indigenous trees that are more than 100 years old.
Process: Honey
In coffee processing, the word honey doesn’t refer to actual honey but rather to the sticky layer of the fruit called mucilage.
Gatta Honey skips the wash and heads straight to the drying beds, sun-drying with its mucilage intact.
The result? A coffee with a tropical fruit-forward tasting note and nuanced flavors of caramel, dates and peach tea that reflect the farms meticulous process.

Regional Select
The Regional Select program was created to highlight the unique profiles we have found that are inherent to various microclimates in many of the countries from which we source green coffee.
