The coffee

Pocket Knife uses the same single-origin Brazilian coffee as Butter Knife Espresso, and that was not an accident. Carmo Estates in Minas Gerais processes their coffee naturally, drying whole cherries on raised beds to build the fruit sweetness and sticky body that makes this origin one of the most reliable in the world. The peanut butter richness, the toffee sweetness, the full body and low acidity: that is the coffee. Everything Butter Knife is built on. The format is different. The quality is the same.

How it's made

Made in partnership with Hasty Coffee using a process that takes the water out without taking the flavour with it. The coffee is ground, brewed, and then slowly freeze-dried: a process that removes moisture by sublimation, converting ice directly to vapour at low temperatures without ever exposing the coffee to high heat. The result is a powder that reconstitutes completely in hot water, with the aroma and flavour of a freshly brewed cup. Nothing added. No fillers, no flavourings, no shortcuts. Just coffee, brewed and preserved properly.

Brew it your way

One sachet. Hot water. Thirty seconds. Add one sachet to 250ml of water just off the boil, stir for thirty seconds, and drink. For something longer, add a splash more water. For iced coffee, dissolve the sachet in a small amount of hot water first, then pour over ice. The peanut butter body holds up well either way, and the toffee finish comes through in every format. Perfect for camping, the cottage, travel, or any morning when time is short and the bar for the cup is not.
